behind our house and grew very rapidly into a large fire that had hundreds of firefighters battling it. All of the homes behind us were evacuated and some others on our street just east of us were evacuated as well.
The flames in this picture were huge. What looks like shrubs in front of the flame are actually large trees. the fire started friday after noon and burned for several days.
First thing sunday morning we were surprisingly waken up by the sound of a huge helicopter that sounded like it was going to land on the house so I looked out the window and saw the helicopter sucking up water through a hose from the resevior behind our house.
We were even able to get the pilot to wave for the camera.
